1. Brief Report

IGNOU Study Centre Kullu was established in the year 1992. It started with a mere strength of eight students. Over the years the strength has increased many folds and at present nearly 2800 students have enrolled for various courses. This study centre is running under the co-ordinatorship of Dr. Rakesh Rana who is assisted by two assistant coordinators Prof. Chet Ram. Nine non-teaching staff members are also providing their services to the study centre’s office. Presently 48 active programs are being run in this centre and 56 able counsellors are continuously providing their guidance to the learners coming from various parts of Kullu, Lahaul Spiti, Mandi and other areas of Himachal Pradesh and India. These counsellors interact with the learners offline every Sunday according to the schedule offered by the Study Centre and from time to time they also use social media platforms like Whatsapp, Google Meet, etc. for interaction with the students. The study centre is providing a great opportunity for those who don’t have access to the conventional education system. The strength of this centre now has been increased up to 2521 till 2023, out of which 758 in Jan 2023 and 1763in July 2023.

2. Detail of Part-Time Staff and Counselors: -

In the study centre Kullu there are nine Part-Time Staff including the Coordinator, assistant coordinators, and others. There are fifty-six approved Counselors out of which 28 active Counselors at present working for the guidance of the learners.

4. Queries of Students

The IGNOU Study Centre Kullu is in regular contact with all learners and is trying to resolve all their queries related to Examinations, Assignments, Admissions/Registration, Re-registrations, and study materials, etc. personally, telephonically or via various social media platforms like WhatsApp, Email, etc.

5. Induction Meeting

The induction meetings for the students of January, as well as July sessions are organized by the study centre on the recommendation of the Regional Centre twice a year. Detailed information is provided to the learners.

6. Counselling Activities

The learners are regularly counselled about their studies and assignments by the Counselors. The students are encouraged to make more and more use of online platforms for their studies and Counselors try to guide the students personally and WhatsApp and telephone.

7. Assignments

Learners can submit their assignments both online as well as offline. We receive all the assignments offline for both sessions.

8. Publicity and Proportional Activities

Publicity and Proportional activities are taken up by the Study Centre regularly. Different Weaver clusters including Bhuthi Weavers Co-operate Society, Handloom/Handicraft, and different NGOs approached the study centre to motivate the workers to seek admission to different programs and to acquire higher education. The awareness regarding admission/registration, re-registration, and Examination forms were also made through newspapers and local Cable Networks.

Other Activities

The study Centre also organizes many other activities like “SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN”, “GROW GREEN, KEEP GREEN”, and “AIDS AWARENESS” prevention and awareness from CORONA from time to time.
